Curated Playlist: The Beats of Benito Antonio Martinez

Featured Artist: Benito Antonio Martinez

Brief Description:

Being unfamiliar with non-English speaking artis, I did not know where to look. Luckily, we had and assignment on Benito Antonio Martinez, who goes by the stage name Bad Bunny. After learning about his fight for Puerto Rico I decided to learn more about his music as it sounded great from the little I initially heard. Let's delve into more music of a talented artist.

Playlist:

Si Veo a Tu Mama:

Si Veo a Tu Mama is a song about coping with losing someone significant to you, as well as discussing self-harm. This song informs people, epically males, how to adopt healthy coping mechanisms and to be honest about their emotions.

Andrea:

The song Andrea is about the topic of relationship abuse and was regarded to be a heartfelt homage to a lady by the name of Andrea Ruiz Costa who lost her life to domestic abuse. The song was so powerful that many women claimed to resonate with it.

Yo Perro Sola:

In the song Yo Perro Sola, it all comes down to women feeling powerful and not tolerating harassment. The song informs people to respect a woman's boundary and for women to be confident and standing up for yourself.

Solo de Mi:

Solo de Mi is another song about spousal abuse and the importance of self love. It's purpose is to provide solace for women who have suffered from domestic abuse.

El Apagon:

El Apagon talks about the frequent power outages, how the wealthy investors were buying all the land, and new upscale construction, which made it to expensive for the locals to afford. This cause the locals to be pushed out of their communities.

Caro:

The song Caro is about informing men that it is fine to take care of themselves. It seeks to dispel the stereotype that men must always be tough and unkept with their physical appearance.
